Charlie Higson short story in WOW 366
Charlie Higson has written a short story for the new anthology, Wow! 366, which promises "mini stories from massive writers” told in just 366 words. All authors have donated their stories with profits from the volume going to the NSPCC charity, ChildLine.
Charlie’s story is called Freddie and the Pig. It's a humorous story for younger kids about a boy who sends a pig to school in his place so he can stay at home and play X-box.
Contributing author Brian Sibley (The Lucky Guess) said in his blog that “writing a short story this short is far from easy (it's always harder to write briefly rather than at length) but it also turned out to be a herculean counting task for the publishers, since computer word-count systems are neither uniform or totally reliable - especially when confronted by hyphenated words or even numbers.”
Other writers include Roddy Doyle, Michael Morpurgo, Anne Fine, Jeremy Strong, Nina Bawden, Ian Whybrow, Paul Stewart, Michael Bond, and Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Wow! 366 is available now from Amazon.co.uk.
