Double or Die Collectors Edition confusion

The good news is the Double or Die Limited Collector’s Edition is available now in participating Waterstone’s bookstores. The bad news is there appears to be confusion about availability and different versions of the book.

First up, orders that were placed online via the Waterstone’s website have all been cancelled. A bookstore rep initially reported this was because the book was not going to be released AT ALL, but all it takes is a visit to a Waterstone’s to disprove this. It seems the only mistake was offing the books online as they were obviously meant to be in-store exclusives like the SilverFin and Blood Fever collector’s editions.

However, a member of the CBn forums who picked up the book at his local Waterstone’s discovered his edition was NOT signed and numbered by author Charlie Higson. The bookstore’s response was that NONE of the Double or Die Limited Collector’s Edition are signed and numbered. But one only needs to look at the picture above to see that is not true. Clearly some are signed and numbered as several copies are already on eBay.

To add to the confusion (or maybe offer some hope) Hatchards is still offering the book for sale online (as they did the SilverFin and Blood Fever specials) and clearly note their copies as being signed and numbered by Charlie Higson.

So, at the moment, what exactly is going on with the Double or Die Limited Collector’s Edition is a bit confusing. I will try and get some official clarification in the coming week and put it up on our news page.

Stay tuned.
