Even though Charlie Higson says that he will not do another Young Bond novel after next year’s fifth and final book, the bestselling author tells spinbeakers.co.uk that he would still like to continue writing books for children.
“I would like to write some more children’s books. I’ve found I’ve really enjoyed writing children’s books,” said the author, who then added with a smile, “I think I’ve found my intellectual level.”
Charlie said Puffin would also be pleased to see him remain in the children’s book business, but that any future children’s novels would be with characters of his own creation. However, he admitted that it will be tough to beat Bond.
“I know perfectly well that I would never come up with a character as good as James Bond. He’s probably the most famous literary creation of the last century.”
